My Friend Walter
Michael Morpurgo, M.B.E.
Sir Walter Raleigh laid his cloak in a puddle for Queen Elizabeth I to walk across. Now, Bess meets his ghost and finds out he’s her ancestor! How’s she going to explain him to her family, especially when he breaks her brother’s fishing rod, steals a horse and smokes cigars in her room? Will Sir Walter wreak havoc or save her family’s home?

At the start of this book I didn’t find the plot that interesting but as I carried on reading it, it got better and better and I really enjoyed it.

This book is amazing it is highly recommended for kids over 6 because it does have some smoking that some parents may not like there children reading when they are six or under. It also may scare some children because there’s a ghost that was executed and that comes up quite a lot in the story. If you like scary and comedy and fantasy then this is your book.

It was quite funny, and I liked the aspect of Bess having a ghost friend. It wasn't my ideal book as it didn't have any cats in, apart from the one Humph chased.

It is a pleasure to read this amazing book. What really interested me was that there were all kinds of acts in one book. That surely is some talent. Emotional, funny, adventurous I can probably use all those words to describe this book. I liked Will the best. He is really good.
Chief Mars Quest 25.12.2021
I enjoyed this book so much that I didn’t hear my mum tell me to turn my light off and go to bed. My favourite character is definitely Walter he is very friendly and is a mystery until further into the books. Why he stole the Crown Jewels still baffles me and also why he put them in a young girls room wow That’s also why it interested me. I would 10000% recommend this book to someone else.

Walter helps Elizabeth's family hugely and he is kind and compassionate. Even though he can do a few mistake, he is an amazing friend to have. It was fiction and Walter was my favourite character because he was an amazing friend. I would reccomend it to everyone as it is such an interesting story.

Michael Morpurgo made this book weave its magic around me and forced me to read on. I was kept guessing until all the secrets were revealed at the end. My favourite character was Walter and I recommend it to anyone interested in Tudor history and a good mystery novel.
