As midnight chimes, Wick is visited by the Hobs, miniature protectors of the forest. Grateful for the kindness shown to their stolen child, they offer Wick the chance of a lifetime – escape from Harklights and begin a new life with them in the wild…

Reviews

I like this book because Wik has to learn the way of nature and he gets a green cloak. He also has to escape Old Ma Bogey. Sadly he leaves Petal behind but in the end all is well. I really recommend this book.

This book was absolutely amazing! It is a very cute book I love all the cute ideas they want make me explode with cuteness. I love the plot and the way he described of hoe Old ma Bogey treats them. It is a fiction book and is very magical. I highly recommend this book to ages 10-14 as it is a little over complicated. Very cute book!

I really enjoyed this book. It's all about a wild forest and tiny people called hobs who live in the forest. They live with the animals. A boy finds an acorn baby and has to return the baby to her family.

Completely captivated by the story. Great for animal lovers and those interested in protecting our forests/woodlands.

I thought this was a great book and the moral was very clear as well. The environmental link really held strong. The main character was a young orphan called Wick and he escaped to the forest. This is a book that's vital on your bookshelf as it's full of friendship, fun and suspense.

I liked Petal in this book. It was very interesting and it proves that even though you are small you can do so much. It talks about how we are ruining the forests. I would recommend this book to nature enthusiasts.

My favourite character is Half-crown. I think the tree-stag is quite cool. Also I like Nissa and admire how she is tiny but strong and brave. I like how the book spreads the message about de-forestation also. I think Tim Tilley could improve it by adding some humour. Sometimes it felt a bit boring reading it. I enjoyed it and I would recommend it to anyone who cares for nature and likes adventure stories.

I really enjoyed this book because it was a very hooking book once you started reading it you couldn't stop. I also loved the message in the story you are never to small to make a difference they constantly repeated this throughout the story. You also get a very good imagery in your mind and in the pictures
