Billy is an eleven-year-old boy with a big dream. He wants to be a stand-up comedian when he grows up: delivering pinpoint punch-lines and having audiences hang on his every hilarious word. A tough career for anyone, but surely impossible for Billy, who has a stammer. How will he find his voice, if his voice won't let him speak?

I enjoyed this book because it showed even if you have something that makes you different like a stutter, you can still be anything you want. Billy was good at telling jokes and loved his granny. The book is sad when his granny dies but he has other people to support him making the ending really happy. I would recommend this book.

I thought this was a great book. It shows great morals and is so well written that at some points I feel exactly what Billy's feeling. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone between 10 and 13.

This book was brilliant! It had lots of unexpected plot twists and a joke at the start of every chapter. It's about a boy called Billy Plimpton who has a stammer and wants to be a comedian. I have rated this book 5 stars because I really enjoyed it and I'm looking forward to hopefully reading the sequel (The funniest boy in the world) sometime soon.

This book really shows how we single out people who aren't normal, and don't except them as a friend. Truth is, there is no such thing as normal or perfect! 5 Stars! Thank you Helen Rutter for creating a piece of art, and helping children respect others! Your lovely book has taken me through a wonderful adventure, where people's dreams come true, and where love, outshines hatred. Thank you for pouring your heart through this exciting novel!

This is the story of Billy Plimpton, a boy who dreams to be a comedian, but he thinks he will not achieve his dream because of his stammer. Despite the cruelty of one of school mates and with the help of his teacher, he learns how to overcome his fears… This is book very funny, with loads of jokes inside but above all, it is an inspiring story for anyone who wants to achieve his dreams.
