This is one of my favourite authors who I always know will put a smile on my face. This book doesn’t disappoint!

Milou, Lotta, Egbert, Sem and Fenna are five unusual orphans who have to go on an adventure to escape from the clutches of vile matron Gassbeek and cruel man Rotman.

Well the first thing I have to say is that it is a book worth reading and if you ever get the chance to read it you should. The reason I gave it a 4 and not a 5 is because a some points it did drag a little but if you keep reading it it will get better and better, I promise.

I think it is action packed. I liked Milou because she is the one making trouble. It interests me because it is about friendship. I would recommend it to someone.

It was so good, the plot was amazing and I couldn’t stop reading even when it got scarier because it was late at night.

I liked this book because it was full of adventure and it showed the lives of just some orphans who were resilient and earned a good life. I recommend this book to people who love adventure and a bit of mystery too

This was a really good book! I liked how it was mysterious, dramatic and gripping. The 5 orphans had an amazing friendship too and I liked how they were always there for each other. My favourite character was probably Lotta as she was quick- thinking and brave. I would recommend!

This book was enjoyable to read, however I think the possibility of Bram being Milou's grandpa was obvious. The connection between the five orphans was unbreakable.

I really enjoyed it, my favourite character was Fenna because she is so shy but gentle and kind. I would recommend this to children ages 8+!

Really good adventure and set up and very interesting. I liked Lotta and i loved how their strengths could turn a difficult situation upside down. I would recommend it to adventure and mystery lovers

Very adventurous, mysterious and action packed, this story follows Milou, a young orphan of 12 -ish,on her journey to find her parents. Along the way they meet good characters like Edda Finklestien, and bad characters like scheming Matron Gassbeek. Milou's friends include Lotta, a girl who loves Maths and Science. She has an extra finger on each hand. Sem, a peculiarly proportioned boy who specializes in dressmaking. Fenna, a silent and flexible girl who is brilliant at baking. Egbert, a boy who is confident in calligraphy and cartography, he is an excellent artist. He has a piece of charcoal behind his ear. Milou herself is a girl who is a brilliant storyteller. She was left on the roof of little tulip orphanage on a full moon in a coffin with claw marks all over it. She had a teddy and a blanket with her name stitched onto it. She has a book of theories about who her parents are. She believes to have a sense, as her ears tingle when some thing bad happens.

A wonderful message about the true definition of family, happily wrapped in a enthralling story that I didn't want to put down.
