I really liked this book. My favourite character is the water bear called Valiant, and I also really like Will Welby. I like the time when Eudora Vane first speaks when she has lost her memory.

I liked how the story always kept me on edge when reading and how I could still understand what was going on, even though I haven't read any other books in the series. The start is a little slow but it does get better. I'd definately recommend this book.

This time, Eudora Vane has organized an explorer fleet to search for the missing adventurer, Ertimage Wrigglesworth. Harriet Culpepper and the crew of the Aurora have joined the mission, but they can't help but feel that scheming Eudora is up to no good. Regardless, they're determined to find Wrigglesworth and uncover the truth behind his disappearance. Darkwhispers is the second book in the Brightstorm series! It is written by Vashti Hardy who is my absolutely favourite author and the Brightstorm series is incredible! In this book an explorer called Ermitage Wrigglesworth goes missing in the Eastern isles (Stella Oceanus). Every explorer family from Lontown Vornatania goes on a huge search to find him. Each family is assigned many different islands that they need to search, because the Eastern isles (or Stella Oceanus officially) have hundreds of islands and remind me of the Caribbean of our world. Eventually Ermitage’s grave is found on Nova, the most eastern of the islands, and a message by messenger pigeon is sent to all other participating explorer families telling them to go back home because Ermitage is dead. But IS Ermitage Wrigglesworth really dead? Or is his grave empty…? Why are the people of Nova acting soo strange? Why is everyone acting soo strange? Is there possibly a chance that there may be a 4th continent, Erythea? It’s up to Arthur and Maudie Brightstorm, as well as Harriet Culpepper, Felicity Wiggety, and William Welby to find out! The Aurora crew are on it to discover the truth about Ermitage’s disappearance, as well as find out what lyes beyond Nova, and Eudora Vane is yet again causing some trouble…. This book is the most incredible book I’ve ever read! I absolutely LOVE the Brightstorm books and can’t wait to read more! Vashti Hardy is the best author ever and I wish the Brightstorm series had like a hundred books! This incredible love for the series may be because I want to be an explorer when I’m older, but I’m sure anyone would love this series as it’s amazing! If anyone’s wondering, the book has 429 pages and took me 3 days to read but I was quite busy. I would recommend this book to anyone 10+ or 9+ maybe (if a confident reader) who loves adventure books and explorer books full of action and travel! ~ Safe travels fellow Explorer! ~

It is a good book but it is the second one in the series and I haven't read the first one. I would recommend it to other people who have read the first one. I would say it is good for anyone aged 8-9 years
