Stubby was a brave soldier, a loyal friend… and a dog. From an army training camp to the trenches in France, this is the incredible true story of Sergeant Stubby, the dog who served bravely in the First World War, sniffing out gas attacks, catching spies and winning the hearts of his fellow soldiers.

I read this book at the tank museum and loved it. I like that stubby helped the soldiers and they looked after him and he got to go home with them.

Conroy is my favourite character. I love all the interesting facts about the war. My favourite part is when the war is over and it is peace. I love that this is a true story. This is my favourite book of all times.

It was good because they defeated a war with a dog called Stubby. They came back home and all of the people who done the war celebrated a parade with the dog in front.

I chose this book because is it about a soldier and his dog and my daddy is a soldier. I liked that Stubby was a stray dog in the beginning but in the end he was a Hero. It was based on a true story. The book was maybe a little old for my age but I enjoyed listening to my mum read it.

An illustrated picture book based on a true story, about a soldier and a stray dog that undergo the horrors of the war. A story of friendship for children aged 9-11.
