Under A Dancing Star
Laura Wood
""…it will sweep you into a glorious, romantic summer haze!"" – thebookactivist A long, hot Italian summer. A duel of kisses. The rules: sparks must fly. Dreams must dance. Neither party must fall in love. In grey, 1930s England, Bea has grown up kicking against the conventions of the time, all the while knowing that she will one day have to marry someone her parents choose – someone rich enough to keep the family estate alive. But she longs for so much more - for adventure, excitement, travel, and maybe even romance. When she gets the chance to spend the summer in Italy with her bohemian uncle and his fiancée, a whole world is opened up to Bea – a world that includes Ben, a cocky young artist who just happens to be infuriatingly handsome too. Sparks fly between the quick-witted pair until one night, under the stars, a challenge is set: can Bea and Ben put aside their teasing and have the perfect summer romance? With their new friends gleefully setting the rules for their fling, Bea and Ben can agree on one thing at least: they absolutely, positively will not, cannot fall in love… A long, hot summer of kisses and mischief unfolds – but storm clouds are gathering across Europe, and home is calling. Every summer has to end – but for Bea, this might be just the beginning. The book was interesting but I don't recommend it to younger children.

This was one of the best books I have ever read in my life as it gave me determination to fight for your happiness no matter what. My favourite character in this book is Beartrice Langton as she strives to achieve sucess. I would definitely reccomend this book as Beartrice is greatly inspirational as for women in the early 20th century it was extremely difficult to become employed in a job as it was not expected of women. This book shows the struggles of a young girl trying to achieve her goals even when it is hardly possible.

I liked this book because it had a romance and adventure theme within the story. My favourite character was Hero because she was quite cheeky! I didn't like the ending as it left characters out and I wanted it to explain more. I would recommend it to someone else because it is an adventurous book and I couldn't put it down.

I highly recommend it to Shakespeare fans out there, it is based on 'Much ado about nothing', and you will also meet some of the characters along the way

It is a fiction book about a girl called Beatrice and she is sent to Italy for the summer where her bohemian Uncle Leo lives. But a handsome young artist Ben meets her and the other artists set a challenge. For Ben and Beatrice to have the perfect summer romance without falling in love.
