It was a bit long, but apart from that I loved it! I would recommend The Monster In The Lake to six to ten year olds because that's the sort of age you read chapter books, and it's full of adventure and that's the kind of thing those age children like. I wouldn't recommend this book to children who are five and under because it may be a little bit too long for them, or a little bit too scary. I think the funniest bit might have been at the beginning because Josh is writing in his notebook and his friends keep commenting in it and Josh keeps getting angry with them.

The book is about a girl called Kit who is a wizard who finds out about a lesser Nessie which was brought due to an open water portal after being kicked out of his home by a group of mermaids who were under a curse of dark wizards. Will kit manage to save the day again?

I liked the part when Lizzie came back home to the loch. I also liked the part when Faith, Duncan and Kit broke the curse. I didn't like the part when Morag the mermaid was being rude to people My favourite charachter is called Alita.

I really enjoyed this book, especially the part where Josh said the animals in the park were unhelpful because when they found some ants all they said were random words. When they found a vole, Alita gave a crisp. When it finished the crisp it ran away without saying anything helpful.
