This was another fictional story - however, many aspects of it were historical due to the strong involvement of the topic of the holocaust and German invaded France. The story revolved around Brigit Furst, a young girl living in England (though born in France) of a French mother and a German father. Now, I loved this book through and through. Blurb: World War II has begun. Brigit has been evacuated to Wales from her home near the aeroplane factories of Coventry. But when it's revealed that her father is German, Brigit runs away to join her mother in a very special training camp, where Churchill is building a secret army of spies and saboteurs known as the Special Operations Executive. Brigit and her mother soon find themselves on the front line in Nazi-occupied France, where they search for double agents and meet with danger at every turn in their efforts to support the French resistance. But no-one will suspect Brigit is a spy, will they? After all, who would suspect a child? Let's talk about the characters that caught my eye. First of all, Brigit Furst - our feisty protagonist. She was smart and witty, with an incredible, mature understanding of the world around her. Her compassion and kindness also shone throughout the story as she showed her sympathetic side towards the common people of France in the book. She was so innovative while helping her parents and she truly cared about saving them all. An Unlikely Spy begins with stating why Brigit Furst is not at all a popular girl. It proceeds to hold a conversation between Jessie Burdess (a girl in the class and Brigit's only supporter) and Brigit about a nasty prank involving pepper and gas masks that her rival, Gladys Turnbull was playing. The book's main point however that begins our story was at the end of a chapter, after it is revealed that Brigit's class teacher had a brother die of a German hand and thus she holds a grudge against Brigit. An assembly is held, and there the mean-tempered headmaster Mr. Cutter announces the evacuation to the Welsh countryside, obviously causing panic. Heading home, Brigit and her parents converse and suddenly a brick is aimed at their infrastructure! It turns out to a spiteful trick from the good old Gladys Turnbull - this time using another child to get what she wants. Like any sane man would do Brigit's father calls the police and our already brutally honest book takes a turn for the worse as the grumpy investigator arrests Brigit's father solely based upon the fact that he is German. As the investigator leaves, a stranger steps out of the shadows claiming to know her mother, Aimee Furst. It turns out that this man is a messenger for the famous Winston Churchill and in the first world war him and Aimee had worked together. Aimee is hired for a secret agency that will eventually send her to German invaded France to fight on the front lines. Meanwhile, it looks like Brigit has got it harsh as she is going to Wales....however, as the story progresses we follow Brigit as she manages to escape from a crazed Christian Priest's home to join her mother in the SOE - The Special Operations Executive. I loved this book and in this review there is so much that I have missed out about it, but I know that everyone who reads it will love it too. I'd recommend it to anyone of any age who likes History or fiery protagonists with a quick wit.

An unlikely spy is set is 1939-1945 when a German girl called Brigit is evacuated to Coventry only to be kicked out of her house. Soon she is on the front line with the resistance. But a German spy is there and could be the end of the resistance. I recommend it to everyone.

I think it was good because it had a child and her mother working together to help save lives in Bray-on-Somme, France. They discovered a traitor and helped the allies win the war. I liked Brigit best because she was brave and clever. I would definitely recommend it to someone else because it was a good children's spy book
