The eighth in a fantastic series of animal stories for younger readers by Waterstones Children’s Book Prize-shortlisted author Helen Peters. With beautiful black-and-white illustrations by Ellie Snowdon.

Jasmine’s dad is a farmer, and her mum is a large-animal vet, so Jasmine spends a lot of time caring for animals and keeping them out of trouble. Unfortunately, this often means she gets into hot water herself…

When Jasmine and Tom discover an injured barn owl in the woods, they race to save his life. But as Star recovers, Jasmine realises that this beautiful bird is also a deadly hunter. Has Jasmine taken on more than she can handle?

Brilliant storytelling that will make you laugh and cry, this is Dick King-Smith for a new generation. Perfect for readers aged seven and up.

Check out Jasmine’s other adventures:

A Duckling Called Button

A Sheepdog Called Sky

A Kitten Called Holly

and many more!

I really enjoyed it since it talked about one of my favourite holidays Halloween! But I didn’t just like it because it that,There was some thrilling adventures and difficult times and not so good times they went through(Tom and Jasmine)But they worked together to keep going and I really enjoyed that.I also really enjoyed the ending when even though they had a rough day they said”This was the best Halloween ever.”

I loved this book because I love all owls and even though they have to let Star go away at the end I still love it. The bit where Jasmine and Tom both get grounded is a very fun bit to read because when Aisha and her mum come to collect Biscuit, their pet hamster who Jasmine volunteered to care for when they had to go away, Jasmine still hadn't found Biscuit and when Tom's mum comes to pick him up, the sneaky little hamster jumps out of Tom's shoe. My favourite character is either Star or Biscuit because they both are mischievous animals and when Jasmine and Tom find out that Star is a dangerous hunter and Biscuit is gone, they freak out, but really Biscuit is just nesting in Tom's shoe and Star didn't kill Aisha's beloved pet. I would recommend this book to everyone, especially Harry Potter fans.

I liked that they were helping a creature and that they were being quiet around the creature. I didn’t like that they didn’t think about things very wisely like telling their parents about the Halloween party. I would recommend this book to others.

This book was OK I found it slightly boring and it was not to my level of reading like the librarian said it was. I would recommend this book to younger readers about 7 or 8. If I had to choose a character I would choose jasmine because she was interesting and quirky. I would definitely recommend it to younger readers.
