Enter a world of wonder with this heartfelt Christmas classic from bestselling children’s author Ben Miller.

Jackson knows all about the flying reindeer, he knows about the elves and the secret North Pole workshop, he knows about the magic that allows Father Christmas to deliver presents around the world in just one night, but there’s one thing he doesn’t know . . . how did Father Christmas become Father Christmas?

That all changes when, one Christmas Eve, Jackson meets Father Christmas and hears his incredible story.

So begins an enchanting fairy-tale into a magical snowy landscape, where Torvil, a mean-spirited and miserly elf, is about to discover the true meaning of Christmas. This might not have been the story Jackson was expecting but, as Father Christmas tells him, no good story ever is…

With beautiful illustrations throughout from Daniela Jaglenka Terrazzini and warm, funny words from Ben Miller, this book will remind everyone of the true spirit of Christmas and prove once and for all that Father Christmas really does exist!

I thought it was fantastic as it was a different version of Scrooge. I would highly recommend it.

I loved this book, I love Christmas so couldn't wait to read it. My favourite character was Torvil who was the main character also known as father Christmas. I've also read all the other books by Ben Miller which I've enjoyed.

I would recommend this book as it is an exciting adventure story that you just can't stop reading. You get lost in the book. It is about a boy called Jackson who meets father Christmas and father Christmas tells him a story of a boy called Torvil Christmas who hates Christmas and gets a visit from a reindeer, a fir tree, and a snow man who shows him the past, the present and the future. It is a recreated story of scrooge that has a twist at the end that father Christmas is Torvil. While he tells him the story, he delivers presents around the world.

Although this book was very much based on “A Christmas Carol” by Charles Dickens, the re working of the story was better because in “A Christmas Carol” we never find out what happened to Scrooge beyond Christmas Day, and it was good to find out how Torvil makes up for his years of meanness. I have enjoyed this story in the run-up to Christmas. Also, the part when Jackson gives away the soft toy he has had since his very first Christmas brought a lump to my throat! I would definitely recommend this book, even to older children.

This book was extraordinary! It displayed the transition of an old, greedy man into the world's most jolliest man! Excellent character descriptions and illustrations from Mr Miller. Most importantly, it teaches us to forgive and forget and move on. I thought it was amazing how Father Christmas could deliver 7 billion presents all in one night.

The Night I Met Father Christmas is a good book which I find relates a lot to A Christmas Carol. I rated the book three stars because it is quirky in its own little way. I would recommend this book to anyone that likes reading stories with messages in them.
