After getting lost at sea in a tropical storm, Ariki and Ipo discover an uncharted island and have a great adventure in the second book of the Ariki series.

Ariki and Ipo are making the most of a beautiful day, sailing the sea near Turtle Island on a “borrowed” boat. They’re too busy daydreaming to spot the grey clouds gathering overhead – but then a terrible storm breaks, carrying them miles from home. After days without food or drink, they are washed up on an unfamiliar island. The island is beautiful beyond belief: they see butterflies, each one lovelier than the last, lizards chasing across the rocks and, most wonderful of all, a gigantic blue bird with eyes that glow purple. When they meet another castaway, however, the children discover this island is no paradise – there are dangers lurking in the shadows! A nail-biting adventure with a strong message about endangered animals and human intervention, and a wonderful partner to Ariki and the Giant Shark.

""Zoologist Davies’s love of the natural world shines through in this wonderful book… Davies’s prose is so evocative you can almost feel the sand beneath your toes."" Mail on Sunday on Ariki and the Giant Shark

I really enjoyed it. Ariki was a starwalker and she almost drowned in a storm and so did her friend Ipo and her pet. There was a pack of dogs who ate all the Mweep birds and then Ariki and Ipo killed the dogs with poisoned fish. So she found a puppy that one of the dogs left behind and she found where she came from and she took the puppy home with her. i liked Ariki. i would recommend

I really liked this book. The best part was when Ariki turned into a star walker and found her way home.

The story is about Ariki, who has stucked in an Island from her uncle. And Asiki has founded a map that leaded her to a pirate ship, but all the pirates have died already many years ago. She explored many islands and some histories of the pirates. Finally, she got home just in time before her dinner. This is ab exciting advanture for her.

I loved this book because it was full of life and a pleasure to read. I loved how the author used his imagination and created wonderful names and identities for the animals. She explained in a lot of detail how the island that Ariki, Ipo and Bad Boy were stranded on was very beautiful yet vicious. My favourite character in this book would be Mweep because he was so beautiful. I would recommend this book to children who like to adventure.

I like this book because it is about a boy called Ipo and a girl called Ariki who takes a boat but accidentally rows it onto an island far, far away from their island. My favourite character is Ariki because when she learns how Crusoe McRobinson speaks she speaks the same way. I would recommend this to my friend Robbie because he likes boats.
