Uki and the Outcasts: BLUE PETER BOOK AWARD-WINNING AUTHOR
Kieran Larwood, David Wyatt
From bestselling author and winner of the Blue Peter Best Story Book Award, Uki and the Outcasts is the first in a new trilogy set in the world of Podkin One-Ear.
‘EXCELLENT,’ says the bard. ’It’s probably a good idea for you to know about him.’
‘Wait . . . him? Who’s him?’ said Rue.
‘Uki,’ says the bard. ‘Uki Patchwork. The Magpie Demon. Uki of the Two Furs.’
From the Ice Wastes beyond the Cinder Wall emerges an unlikely hero. Rejected by his village and left to die, young Uki is given life and unique powers by a long-buried spirit from the time of the Ancients . . . and a life or death mission.
Joined by two other outcasts – a trained assassin who refuses to kill people and a very short rabbit who rides the fastest jerboa on the plains – Uki must capture Valkus, the Spirit of War, before rabbitkind destroys itself in conflict.
A thrilling new book set in the Five Realms of Podkin One-Ear.

I enjoyed the places they went to. Some were very dark. This is number 4 in the series. I'm now on number 5. I would recommend it if you like action and adventure.

I love this book a lot and I wouldn't mind reading this over and over again. My favourite character is Jori who is very confident in Uki's view and brave for a girl. Uki suffers a lot and actually dies at the start, yet he doesn't stop there and gets revived by the spirit Iffrit. Unfortunately, his mother dies instead and Uki starts a new quest. On the way, he meets Jori in a ruined place and Lak Kriya of the Kalaan Kalaa Tribe at Nether (or Kree for short). Uki is always worried that they'll get hurt because they joined his dangerous quest, but they are willing to do it as none of them have families and call themselves a family as they do what families do. I would definitely recommend this book to those who have read the Podkin series.

Didn't really enjoy this one but because it is part of a series, I read it. Eventhough, I didn't enjoy it very much doesn't mean someone will so I would recommend it.

The bard tells the story of Uki, the 2 furred rabbit, the jerboa with no trail, the tiny plains rabbit and the assassin who didn't want to kill. Full of adventure, this book is one I just couldn't put down!

Viscountess Honeycomb Teacup 08.12.2020

Uki and the Outcasts is a great book which is all about stopping baddies from destroying the world. I think that is a great book as Uki, an outcast, is about to die when a spirit come and takes his body, filling Uki's brain with the spirit's memories. Now Uki and his new friends must work together to stop a war. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes tales and animals, especially rabbits.
