The School Ship Tobermory and its intrepid young crew are back in Hebridean waters. When a violent storm blows them off course to a remote island, they discover a fisherman’s journal written a hundred years ago which tells of a mysterious shipwreck crammed with treasure.

But without a precise location, where do they start looking? An extraordinary chance encounter gives them a valuable clue. Before long, Ben, Fee and their friends realize they are not the only ones searching for the lost wreck and must face a ruthless and determined adversary who will stop at nothing to seize the prize.

This book is another fantastic Tobermory aventure by Alexander McAll Smith. Something has gone wrong with Ben's closest friend Badger (Nobody knows his proper name it's just a nickname) and Ben is desparate to find out why. Meanwhile the crew of the ship are sailing from the Isle of Mull to St. Kilda. The crew are disappointed because they were not travelling far, but once they are there, Fee, Ben and their friends find a small museum - about the sad story of the people forced to move out of their homes - and they are shown an old fisherman's diary. And then they soon find out about some precious Viking treasure deep beneath the Dark Waterfall. As they excitedly begin their quest to find it, they realise they are not the only ones who are on the hunt for Viking goods... I love this book and I would recommed it to anyone with a taste for adventure.

This book was a really exciting adventure in Scotland. Some children were on a school at sea. I loved the bit where they went behind a waterfall and found viking treasure, and then had to try and get back home as some pirates had taken some parts from their boat, as well as the treasure. I really enjoyed this book and would like to read another adventure by the same author.
