I really liked this book because it’s about someone who’s ninety and is reflecting on his life and the war. My favourite part was when Christine walked into the enemy prison and terrified the manager.

This book is soo touching! The fact that it is all completely true makes me sad but it is truly inspiring. It is about a young man called Francis Cammaerts who tells his life story from his childhood to how he became a teacher, to how he joined the Resistance to help fight World War II, leaving his pregnant wife and toddler behind. He travelled to France to help fight and then came back to England fighting here too. He talks about his fellow friends who helped him survive and how everyone supported each other. He also talks about his 4 children Niki, Jay, Christine, and Paul. At the time of talking about all this as the book’s narrator Francis is 90 years old. The book is beautifully written by Michael Morpurgo who is Francis Cammaerts’s nephew! In real life! It is a bit sad so I would recommend it to anyone 10+. It’s great if you are trying to learn more about the stories of individuals living during WWII, but you can read it any time as well. If anyone’s wondering, the book has 143 pages and took me a day to read. It has a lot of beautiful illustrations by BARROUX. My great grandma (who is still alive today thankfully) was born during WWII and her father (my great great grandpa died fighting in it. :( my other great grandma was in Auschwitz, Bergen Belsen, and Chelmno concentration camps but she survived both thankfully and my grandpa (mum’s dad) tells me about her often. She was not Jewish, but she was polish and the Nazis didn’t only take Jewish people, they took polish people and people who have other skin colours too. :( my grandpa told me his mum (my mum’s other grandma) was friends with Anne Frank!!! I definitely recommend this book.

It was pretty good. It was about world war II and the French attacked Germany and Germany did it back.

I am not very keen on this book because it is very serious and boring. My favorite people are Augustine and Christine. I would not recommend this book to anyone who is less than 10 years old.

This book was a-ma-zing and lovely to read. It was so semimetal and it brought me to tears at one point. I'd recommend this book for older readers such as 11-90 year olds or 9-10 year olds if they are very advanced. There are some words in the book which may need to be explained by an adult, but other than that, its a great book.

The only fault of this book is that I read too quickly, well who wouldn’t?
