Join brave Kat Wolfe and her animal sidekicks in this second mysterious adventure filled with friendship, freedom and a fierce wild cat!

When a landslide on the Jurassic Coast reveals a rare ‘dragon’ dinosaur, best friends Kat Wolfe and Harper Lamb are thrilled, especially when stars and scientists come flocking to sleepy Bluebell Bay.

But after they begin investigating a suspicious death, events spiral quickly out of control for detectives Wolfe and Lamb. Worse still, Kat’s wild cat is in trouble. Can they solve the mystery – and save the cat’s life – before it’s too late?

Kat Wolfe Takes the Case is the second book in Lauren St. John’s Wolfe & Lamb series, and is illustrated by Daniel Deamo.

This book was amazing! I think the plot line was really clever; the link between modern-day mystery’s and the environment around us was great. However; definitely the scariest of the series! Would not recommend to anyone under the age of 9.

Kat Wolfe Takes the Case is an amazing book jam-packed full of excitement, mystery and loads of animals. It comes after Kat Wolfe Investigates but is stand-alone. Kat and her best-friend Harper Lamb are bored after their last case, but have their duties to look after animals. However, suddenly, Bluebell Bay is packed full of visitors. A new dinosaur has been found. But darkness and mystery whirl closer. Can all their mini mysteries mean something? My favourite characters are Kat and Harper, for Kats passion of animals, and Harper’s sense of humour. I would recommend this amazing tale to 10+, even adults would enjoy it. I would also highly recommend the Authors Note. It’s outstanding.

I enjoyed this, my favourite character was Pax but the plot was complicated and slightly boring in places. I would recommend to ones who like murder mysteries.

I have to say that Lauren St John is a modern Enid Blyton, though her books are so gripping and exquisitely written that it seems unfair to compare them to anything. The second in a series following the investigations of pet-sitter and kid detective Kat Wolfe, along with her best friend and expert coder Harper Lamb, Kat Wolfe Takes The Case is a superb novel filled with close encounters and switches between characters, finely blended to reveal the characters’ own deadly secrets or leave the enchanted reader with more questions than answers. Set in a fictional town, the seemingly flawless Bluebell Bay on the Jurassic coast, Kat and Harper strive to solve a string of mysteries all related to a recently discovered Jurassic Dragon (a raptor fossil seemingly sporting wings) and the elusive Order of the Dragons. I have to say, unimaginatively, that my favourite character is Kat Wolfe, the main character. She is inquisitive and alert, caring about preserving and aiding nature, and (normally) looks for proof before accusing criminals. She goes to any lengths to protect her friends and animals, which can lead her into trouble. I would recommend this book to any mystery or nature lovers, as all the lead characters love animals and plants. It provides a pleasant mix between fiction and facts, so that readers can learn a little about different species in the wold as they figure out who has murdered a budding reporter. Don’t forget to read the first book before hand, though- many characters and themes from the first book feature in this most fantastic book.

I really like this book because it is a mystery book. The way the story is told you feel like you're actually there. I would recommend this book to children over the age of 6.
