Louisiana's Way Home
Kate DiCamillo
Follow-up to the New York Times Bestselling Raymie Nightingale, from an internationally revered author, twice winner of the Newbery Medal.
When Louisiana Elefante’s granny wakes her up in the middle of the night to tell her that the day of reckoning has arrived and they have to leave home immediately, Louisiana isn’t overly worried. After all, Granny has many middle-of-the-night ideas. But this time, things are different. This time, Granny intends for them never to return. Separated from best friends Raymie and Beverly, Louisiana struggles to oppose the winds of fate (and Granny) and find a way home. But as Louisiana’s life becomes entwined with the lives of the people of the small Georgia town in which they find themselves – including a surly motel owner, a walrus-like minister and a mysterious boy with a crow on his shoulder – she starts to worry that she is destined only for goodbyes. (Which could be due to the curse on Louisiana’s and Granny’s heads. But that is a story for another time.)
Called “one of DiCamillo’s most singular and arresting creations” by The New York Times Book Review, the heartbreakingly irresistible Louisiana Elefante was introduced to readers in Raymie Nightingale – and now, with humour and tenderness, Kate DiCamillo returns to tell her story.

Really good - at some points I didn't even realise that I was turning the page. I really like Kate DiCamillo books.

This book is about a girl called Louisiana, who wakes up to be told that they have to leave their home, because of a curse. Louisiana learns the truth, makes new friends, and tries new things. Louisiana misses her home, but will she go back? I absolutely loved this book, and i'd recommend it to anyone!

I think this book is one of the best books I've read. It is about a girl called Louisiana, when her Granny rushes them away. I really enjoyed this book, because she learns more and more about herself. My favourite character is Burke Allen, because he helps Louisiana. I would recommend this book to everyone who likes stories about characters learning more about themselves, and about their past.

Louisiana wakes up and her granny tells her it the day of reckoning because her great grandfather cast a curse on her great granny and now she has to move away from Florida. When her granny was driving she got a toothache so Louisiana had to drive her granny to a dentist. When they finished with the dentist they stayed at a hotel, Louisiana became friends with a boy. When her granny left her to try and fix the curse she lived with the boy's family. I would recommend the book to a friend because it's really nice.
