‘A warm-hearted debut … lovely, expressive, characterful’ SUNDAY TIMES on The Boy Who Grew Dragons
Tomas can’t imagine life without his little dragon Flicker. He’s become more than a pet – he’s a friend like no other. And growing dragons on the dragonfruit tree in the garden with his friends Ted, Kat and Kai is the most amazing thing ever. But Tomas has promised Grandad something – that he and his friends will let their dragons go back to where they belong. The only problem is – that isn’t such an easy thing to do. Not when they are still having so much fun with dragons Flicker, Sunny, Crystal and Dodger. Not when they still have to work out where the dragons’ home is, and how to get the dragons to leave. And not when Tomas is so close to uncovering the true story of the mysterious dragonfruit tree …

It was my favourite book I had read so far. My favourite person was grandpa. Because he helps people. And is kind. My favourite part of it was the bit when he flew with the dragons.

I liked that Tomas found out about his nemesis and they became friends in the book. The story did weaving in and out, happy bits then bits were tricky for the characters. I liked that it had mythical creatures. I liked the ending because they became friends. I would recommend it to a friend.
Corporal Sketch Hammersmith 03.01.2024

I liked how the dragons returned really big and a new character got added to the superhero squad.
Professor Neptune Vampire 02.09.2023

I liked Flicker which is Tomas's dragon because he shown his owner Tomas that he is not a kaleidoscope rippling dragon which is a boring kind of dragon but a weather storm dragon which means he can control the weather. There was a very sad bit where they had to let the dragons go to there home even when Ted Kat Kai and Tomas didn't know where home was for the dragons. I would not reccomend this book to someone else because I don't want any one having the coolest pet in the world like I will have one day when I grow myself a dragon fruit tree.

I thought it was a book that made me feel a little sad because the grandad nearly died and the dragons left. Flicker also grew up which made me both happy and sad.

I really liked this book because it is about a boy and his friends being able to ride on their dragons. My favourite character is Tomas because he cares a lot about his dragon. I would recommend this book to other children because they would be able understand what a marvellous feeling it is to ride to a dragon's back.
Master Gargoyle Tinkle 23.08.2022
