The astounding new novel from the bestselling and Costa-shortlisted author of Time Travelling with a Hamster, this is a story for everyone of ten and older who loves adventure, laughs and tears.

“One of my favourite middle-grade writers” Kiran Millwood Hargrave, author of The Girl of Ink and Stars When eleven-year-old Georgie befriends an eccentric retired scientist, she becomes the test subject for a thrilling new experiment: a virtual-reality 3D version of the future. But then a deadly disease threatens the life of every dog in the country and Georgie’s beloved dog, Mr Mash, gets sick. And that’s only the start of her troubles. Soon, Georgie and Mr Mash must embark on a desperate quest: to save every dog on earth, and maybe even all of humanity … … without actually leaving the room. An extraordinary quest with the biggest stakes of all, and a huge idea at its heart, this is time travel – but not as you know it.

This book is so good! I immediately loved the main characters- Georgie and Mr Mash ( there are other main characters but these are my favourite). Some parts though are really sad- by the end I was almost crying! Would recommend to 9+ but be warned- if you love dogs, this can be a bit sad.

I think this book was good because Mr Mash is a really funny dog and the story made me laugh all the way. Dr Pretorius is really humorous when she escapes the hospital with Georgie. So sad that Mr Mash got the Dog Plague but I was absolutely thrilled when he saved the world! My favourite character was definitely Mr Mash! I would recommend this book to any action, dog-lover people!

This book was frightening but I couldn't stop reading it. It was exciting and dangerous but also fun. The ending was one of the best I have ever read, sad but also happy. I would recommend to my friends.

I rated this book 5/5 because it was exciting, dramatic, adventurous and just plain cool! I liked it when two of the children met an old lady who had built a holographic machine that would send you into the future! But then it all went wrong! My heart was beating really fast and I couldn’t stop reading! It was SO exciting! I would recommend this book to anyone who likes adventure and excitement.

This book was soooo good! I could hardly put it down! I really, really like Ross Welford’s books and I got a couple more of his books from my local library so I’m really excited to read those too! He’s a great author and I totally get transported into the book when I’m reading it! I would recommend this book to anyone 9+ who loves dogs, friendship, time travel, mystery, and adventure!!! If anyone’s wondering, the book has 373 pages and took me a week to read just because I was reading other books at the same time! Usually Ross Welford’s books only take me 3 days to read though. In this book there’s a global pandemic, very similar to the COVID-19 one, but not quite the same. It gives me those Covidy vibes though! Hehe! I really enjoyed this book, it was soo good! Definitely recommended! :) Happy time travel! Xx

The book was a bit upsetting at first because I love dogs, but just after the middle it’s amazing. It’s about these two friends that get to try out an invention that will change the world. There’s also this dog plague and these two kids have to save the worlds dogs bye using the invention. The thing is, the don’t leave the room.
