Join two best friends as history is made in 1941.

Teddy and Harriet have been joined at the hip for as long as they can remember – but then the WAR started. Teddy is EVACUATED all the way across the ocean to the United States and Harriet is left in London to face the BLITZ! The pair promise to write to each other as often as they can, but soon Teddy is swept up in his new life, while Harriet feels lonely and frightened whenever the sirens begin to howl… Commemorating eighty years since the start of World War Two, My Best Friend the Evacuee is an exciting read for children aged 6+, packed with fascinating historical details.

I really liked this book because it tells you lots of information about World War II. There's a little girl and a little boy and the little boy has to evacuate to America. I learnt that the Nazis bombed the underground and the water pipes burst and everyone was in such a hurry that the poor people fell down and were run over. In the news it told you that more people died being run over than being drowned.

It is really cool to see how letters got to America during WW2. Any bits in Harriet's letters which contains information that could be given to spies were crossed out by the cursors. Harriet tries to inform Edward what is happening in England because he is in America. At the beginning of the book, Harriet writes what she finds the most annoying things are in England and Edward writes what the most annoying things are in America.

I really enjoyed My Best Friend the Evacuee. This book was fiction but it was about things that actually happened. My favourite character was Harriet. Harriet was a girl who stayed in London during World War 2. Harriet’s best friend Edward was evacuated to America. I would recommend this book to someone else.

My favourite character was Edward because I liked the fact he went to America because he thought he was going to become a cowboy, also when he arrived at the house of the family he was going to live with, Frank the dog really didn't like him but by the time he left, he was Franks favourite person in the house. I liked the fact that it was based on a true store, it was all written as letters between two people instead of in chapters. I would recommend it to people between the ages of 9 and 11, and I would recommend it to a friend.

I like how they’ve done letters because they’re still best friends and you get to understand what war life is like.
