The fiction book Dotty and the Calendar House Key for me was a great book and not my favourite at the same time. It was mysterious, adventurous and spine-chilling, I always love to read these kind of books! However, it has a flaw- there are a lot of loose ends. Of course, this is the first in a series so they may be tied up in the sequels but I think the villains in this novel didn't take their place as villains. Mistress Porguss and Master Poachling are two very well written sinister siblings. However, as the villains of the tale, you would expect them to appear a bit more often. Yes, they are mentioned a lot but they only actually appear in person two or three times. But overall, it was a very interesting and humorous, sad and happy book to read! I'm excited to perhaps look at the sequels to this novel and the adventures of the lovely Dotty.
