The Shadow in the North
Philip Pullman
The second book in Philip Pullman's classic SALLY LOCKHART quartet in a beautiful new edition. Sally Lockhart is a thoroughly modern woman in a world of pompous men. Soon she is ensnared in a whirl of high-society danger and deceit, which can lead her in only one direction - to the terrifying secret of the Shadow in the North.
Reviews

I think this was another amazing book. It is about a young lady called Sally Lockhart, who is a financial consultant, in London in 1878 who investigates 2 different mysteries which she finds, across the book, link together. I would highly recommend it to girls and boys above the age of 8-9.

I really liked this novel in the sally lockheart mystery series. They had lots off dangerous events in this book like when the fire from a bomb caught alight the Garland and Lockheart photographers shop burnt down and Fredrick Garland the man Sally was going to marry and Isabel tragically died. Though the most exciting part was when Sally tricked the evil Axel Bellman and shot him. I would recommend this book to some over 11 year olds.

I like this book because it contains lots twists and turns. The ending is pretty shocking but don't worry I won't spoil it for you. I like Sally because she always surprises me. The other books in this series are: The Ruby In The Smoke, The Tiger In The Well and The Tin Princess.
