I really like this book series, but I didn't like all the killing and death in the end of the book, last 100 pages. I disliked it when Stanislaus Grumman / John Parry (Will's father) and Lee Scoresby died.

Gripping read, each chapter leaves you wanting to read more. An excellent sequel to the first book!

This book is the second in the series: his dark materials, I personally enjoyed this book more than the first because it had more characters and a bulkier story. In this book I found that Lyra Belaqua was my favourite character. The story was gripping especially when she meets will parry who is owner of the subtle knife. I love how it can cut into worlds and slice through anything, though there is a twist in the story when Will has to sacrifice something for the greater good. I think this book is full of mystery and adventure. I would recommend this book to Grace and Gabriella because I recommended the first book to grace and I think Gabriella would enjoy the plot in this story.

It’s very interesting but the one thing that bothers me is there’s a LOT of weird and wonderful words x
