The third book in The Trapdoor Mysteries, a series about Tally, a code-breaking, animal-loving servant girl and her best friend, a squirrel named Squill, who solve mysteries with the help of a secret library…

Orphan Tally is the servant girl at Mollett Manor – and she’s also the Secret Keeper of the magical library hidden beneath a trapdoor, underneath the manor’s grounds. Along with Squill the squirrel, she uses the enchanted books to solve crimes.

So when ghostly noises start haunting the lady of the manor in the middle of the night, she’s terrified and turns to Tally for help. But can the library help Tally catch something that no one can see?

This book was very emotive. It is about a girl called Tally and she has to prove that Lord Mollet is her father. She also has to prove that Madam Sage is a fraud. I liked this story because it is almost magical but it’s very realistic too. On a lot of the pages, it provides factual information. Overall, I think this book is a good read for anyone.

This book is intresting as a young girl about 9 sees a adult up to no good and all the other adults don't notice it. I would recommend this to children aged 6-10

I really loved this book/series. I loved the characters, setting and storyline. Tally is a really cool and good main character as she is clever and thoughtful. Squill is amazing, the illustrations bring it to life and I enjoyed solving the mystery. I love the thought of a manor

The third book that I read was A Theif in the Night, a mystery for younger children written by Abie Longstaff. I didn't really like this book, probably because it was too easy for me, though I appreciated the concept. I loved the idea of a magical library that made holograms appear from books. In all, this was an okay book, but I was a little bored. I'm settling for three stars.
