The character of Celaena is complex and multi-layered which both intrigued me and confused me. She has a mysterious past which I hope we uncover. The whole storyline regarding the castle challenges was action packed. The friendships between Dorian, Chaol and Celaena was also interesting

I thought that this was the best book I have read so far. I loved how Celaena was so strong and although she went through so many hardships, she still survived. She had a sense of humour even though the terrors she went through were very hurtful. She slipped away from death many times and still was not scared.

This book is definitely not my favorite book, but I don't hate it either. The idea of the dead queen like haunting her or guiding her or whatever isn't interesting at all and is kind of annoying. My least favorite character is Celaena because I feel like she's so arrogant and thinks so highly of herself for literally no reason. My favorite character is Dorian because he's so funny, and even though he's a prince, and his dad is a really cruel king, he's very nice. I wouldn't really recommend this book to other people though because it's boring and honesty reading about Celaena is really annoying.

I loved this book! Magic is a repeating theme throughout this book though the King of Adarlan had long destroyed all traces of magic. A lot of this book revolves around Wyrdmarks and who can use these symbols. I like all of the main characters - Celaena is an assassin with a heart, Dorian is the Crown Prince, son of the hated King of Adarlan, Chaol is a seemingly cold Captain of the Guard and Nehemia is a kind Princess of Eyllwe- Celaena's true friend.

Really interesting plot with good integration of mythical themes. I would recommend reading Assassins Blade before this as you will have a better understanding of the plot, how the characters have got there and you feel more attached to the characters too.
