A heart warming story about how a tortoise, initially rejected by those he thought would befriend him, shows an elephant and a hippo how it is not about size but more about brains! I disliked how his friends turned against him and felt really sorry for the tortoise. The saying goes ‘don’t judge a book by its cover’ is so true! The tortoise tricks the hippo and elephant into a game of tug of war which ultimately results in them both looking like utter fools!

This book was about making friends. I think i would like to make friends too . I like the tortoise the best because he made friends in a fair way. its a good fun book and short to read. I would recommend it to others.

Brilliant book. I liked when the elephant and hippo fell on their bottoms. The tortoise taught them a lesson. I would recommend to my friends.

I liked that the tortoise found friends at the end. But I’m disappointed the hippo and elephant were so mean to the tortoise who was so nice. I found the book difficult because it had lots of hard words which I’d never read before and these were quite long words too.
