Set in Africa and Scotland, a novel about forgotten children and the power of nature to heal and reconnect us. It’s about a girl who will climb mountains in her search for a place to call home.

A very sad, emotional book. It is about a girl named Makena she has a lovely life until her parents go on a trip to her Auntie's and her life won't quite be the same... I loved this book and would definitely recommend. My favourite character was a white fox who you will find out about if you read the book right till the end and my other favourite was Helen's father who you will also find out about. All in all a really good read.

This was a magnificent book! It teaches children how to survive in the wilderness on a mountain and also how it doesn’t matter where you’re from and not to be racist about albinos and people from different countries. An outstanding book Lauren St John has taught me loads from her books, thank you snd well done Lauren St John! I highly recommend this amazing book!

I loved this book because it was fun to read but sometimes sad. My favourite character is Makena because she is brave and perseveres when life gets hard. I would recommend this book to children over the age of 8.
