It’s snowing outside, and Tom’s neighbour Gary is building a snowman with his dad. Tom’s own dad is ill, upstairs in bed again. He isn’t strong and boisterous, like dads ought to be. So Tom builds his own snow creation: a cold, snarling ice cat. It’s strange… he didn’t mean to build an ice cat.

The way that the boys dad was in so much shock even more than the boy when the cat came alive and had bright yellow eyes staring at both of them

I rated this book 5 because I thought it taught a good lesson. The boy in the story got very angry and he kicked down Gary’s snowman. He didn’t understand why he was angry but after talking to his dad he felt better. He then made friends again with Gary and they built a snowman together. A magical part of the story is that the boys snow cat came to life and wandered about the streets.

I thought this book was very good, I rate it 4/5. This book should be for 7 year olds as it is easy content but you can still read it if you are older than that - I just found this book on my bookshelf and I thought well I might read in bed and I got a thin book because I wanted to finish it- I am 11. My favourite person was Gary because he forgave Tom very quickly. My favourite part was when the ice cat moved. I marked this book down 1 point because I wanted more drama in the ice cat. I would recommend.

This was a Fiction book. It was about a boy and his dad. Gary's dad made an Ice Cat. Then it came real. Tom got angry with it and he stepped on it. Tom made up with Gary at school then made another Ice Cat.

This book was good because Tom and Gary had a competition who could make the best snowman and toms turned out to be a cat and Gary's was a perfect snowman.
