From Noel Streatfeild, the beloved author of Ballet Shoes, comes a moving story of unexpected friendships and new beginnings.

When their father is injured in an accident, life changes for the Johnstone family. Unable to afford their home, they have to move to a small London flat. Carol can no longer go to ballet school and Tim is heartbroken as he must leave his beloved dog, Jelly, behind.

Then, it seems, their wishes are granted: in an extraordinary twist of fate, Tim inherits a dilapidated country house, Caldicott Place, where the family – including Jelly – can live together. But the house is badly in need of repair and they have no money, so a solution is found – the family start to look after wealthy children in the school holidays. Although they dread the prospect of sharing their newly found home with rich spoiled children, perhaps friendships can be found in the unlikeliest places.

Caldicott place is such an impeccable book full of twists and turns. My favourite character is Jelly he is Tim's dog although I also do love Sophie's unique character. I recommend this book because the more you read you really deeply get to know the characters it almost feels like the people in this outstanding book are real! At the end of the book, the last few sentences made me build up tension as I wonder what will happen after the Johnstone's adopt Sophie.

Tim doesn't realise how serious his father's car accident is, but because of this he helps his father recover by getting him into gardening.

I really liked reading Caldicott Place because the story went happier nearer to the end. It was also sad in some parts because the children's dad was in a car accident and he wasn't the same when he was out of the hospital. The book was about the Johnstone children who have to move to London because they cant afford their house anymore since their fathers accident. Suddenly, Tim, the youngest child, inherits a house called Caldicott Place and the Johnstone family share their house with 3 spoilt, rich children. I liked Tim the best because he loved his dad even though he wasn't the same again. Tim would sneak in the hospital to see his dad and he would plant flowers in the garden to make his dad happy. I would definitely recommend this book.
