From the bestselling author of Horrible Histories, named 'the outstanding children's non-fiction author of the 20th century' by Books For Keeps _______________ Ideal for readers aged 7+ 9500 years ago, as the Ice Age is ending... Jay's grandfather is old, maybe twice as many summers as he has fingers and toes, but he is wise too. Jay loves to sit in their house by the river and listen to his stories of the Great Spirit and the Earth Mother. But outside, danger is at their door; food is getting scarcer, tribes are at war, and all the time the river water is rising... A brand new and exciting tale, based on real historical and archaeological evidence, this story is full of Terry Deary's imaginative style and dry wit. Book band: Grey _______________ 'Bubbling with wit, language play and robust dialogue....just the right mix of ingredients to trigger young readers' interest in all things historical' - Books For Keeps

It was a happy tale about the end of The Ice Age.A family moved house to house because their first house flooded, they built their second house but moved to find a better place to live after a bit of a war with another tribe. They built their next house on tree stumps. I'm not sure if it's based on fact but there are facts in the book at the end. I recommend this book

It showed how Stone Age people couldn’t look for better place to leave because of fights with other tribe, so they had to go back to the flooded place and build a house on sticks to stay dry.

I liked that it was informative with interesting facts but not like a normal non fiction book.

This book was based on the stone age where a stone age family were talking about stories, including the oldest story in the world, the story of Noah which some people think that it is real and some people think is fake, but it is located in the bible. It made me interested because the stone age is a very interesting period about what is real or not.

This book was fiction and non-fiction at the same time because it has facts but also has a story in there. It was about a girl called Jay who lived at the end of the Ice Age. Jay lived with her dad, Mor, her mum, Sorrel and her grandfather. I liked Jay's grandfather the best because he said that 'we can live without the Great Spirit but we can't live without people'. It interested me because I learned a lot. I would recommend this book to my brother because he likes learning things about how humans used to live.

I like this book because there were 2 tribes that weren't very kind. It was set in the Stone Age and I found out that if people lived near water in the Stone Age they sometimes built their houses on stilts to stop the water going into their houses.

I would recommend this factual book because it is a great story based on real life stone age history.
