When Pierrot becomes an orphan, he must leave his home in Paris for a new life with his Aunt Beatrix, a servant in a wealthy household at the top of the German mountains. But this is no ordinary time, for it is 1935 and the Second World War is fast approaching; and this is no ordinary house, for this is the Berghof, the home of Adolf Hitler.

This was a good book and although it was fictional it carried non-fictional parts and made you realise what happened in history. It showed how the innocent young boy grew up under greed and power and how he didn't know any better and followed how Hitler acted. This made me feel bad for the boy as it meant he did awful things and would always have it under his conscience. The ending was amazing and although the book was mainly sad the ending was happy and filled ,e with warmth as the grown men turned into innocent kids one last time.

Boy at the Top of the Mountain is a gripping page turner about an orphan who goes to live with his aunt. Little does he know that he would end up in the same room as Aldolf Hitler and become his trusted friend. My favourite character was Anshel as he is such a great story teller and although he is deaf and mute he is still able to conquer the world. My favourite part was when Ernst shoved the cake in the Fürhers face. I woukd recommend this to 11+ as it has some very scary parts in it and there is lots of German in it which I found hard to understand. I think it is also great for adults especially with a passio for history.

I would recommend this book to ages 10 and over. It is a very exciting story and my favourite character was Pierrot.

A good book and interesting read with a different perspective on the war. It might be hard for some readers to get going with the book as the many different characters are confusing especially towards the end of the book. My favourite character was Pieter also known as Pierrot because the different types of personalities he shows are intriguing. The book puts a different perspective of the behaviour of the German and the French in this specific time period. I would recommend it to someone who likes adventure stories although I personally really enjoyed the book and I don't usually enjoy this specific genre.

I liked this book because it was very deep and was all about war. I would only recommend this to older children as it is quite challenging to read.
