Meet the Lotterys: a unique and diverse family featuring four parents, seven kids and five pets – all living happily together in their big old house, Camelottery.

Nine-year-old Sumac is the organizer of the family and is looking forward to a long summer of fun. But when their grumpy and intolerant grandad comes to stay, everything is turned upside down. How will Sumac and her family manage with another person to add to their hectic lives?

The Lotterys Plus One, bestselling author Emma Donoghue’s first novel for children, features black-and-white illustrations throughout and is funny, charming and full of heart.

My favourite character was Catalpa because she is always so chilled about everything!

I really enjoyed reading this book! I liked how it celebrated diversity and how the family was so big and broad! It takes a while to get to know who is who but then you really get to relate with the characters. My favourite character was Sumach as she was kind and clever. I would recommend this book to 11+

This fiction book is about family. A extremely big family. 2 sets of parents, seven children and 5 pets all living in peace. Until Grumps arrives but they eventually settle their differences. My favourite character is sumac because she helped Grumps find a home where he truly belongs. I would recommend this amazing book

The Lottery’s’ are a really big family and I like how different they all are. In this story Popcorn’s dad comes to live with them but Sumac is not happy about it at first. My favourite character is Sumac because she’s kind and she likes reading and arts and crafts.

I enjoyed this book as it was not too adventurous but it was just about normal everyday things (although I like adventurous books).

It's an interesting book that you could learn something from but it's fictional and exciting too.
