It was nice, but also a bit sad because Miranda and her mum used to be best friends, but now her mum is acting like a stranger. When Miranda is sent to spend summer on August Isle, where her mum grew up, she decides to find out what made mum change. She soon is tangled up in the island's web of mysteries. It was interesting when she found out the reason of why her mum changes and she try to cheer her mum up. I liked Miranda. I recomend

Mum and Miranda used to be best friends but now Mum travels the world and acts like a stranger. Then, Miranda is sent to spend the summer at August Isle, where her Mum grew up, and is determined to unlock Mum's past. With her new friends, Miranda meets strange Mr Taylor, who tells them interesting stories of his travels. Miranda, Sammy and Caleb must discover the secrets of Keepers Island and find out Mum's past, before Miranda's time on August Isle runs out. I loved The Secret Summer-it is full of mystery, family and adventure. My favourite character was Caleb because he transforms from a bully to a friend throughout the book. I would recommend it to boys and girls 9-12 as some younger might find Keepers Island scary.

Honestly anyone who loves mystery comedy and adventure then this is your book, I loved it so much I even consider it as my most favourite book. My favourite part was when Marinda finds out Mr Taylor was her grandfather all along and faces her fear of water and sails all across the ocean on a little sailboat to the dangerous and mysterious keepers island. My favourite character is Aunt Clare because she is so kind and funny and she really knows her stuff. I recommend to anyone 9+ as there are some confusing and long words in the book. 5 STARS
