A dramatic and emotional story about one girl’s determination to stand by her beloved animals – and her refusal to give up, even in the face of impossible odds.

When a devastating earthquake hits Evie’s hometown of Parnassus on New Zealand’s South Island, she and the rest of the town are forced to evacuate. Evie’s injured mum is one of the first to be rescued by helicopter and Evie will be next. But when realises that she will be forced to leave her beloved pony, Gus, her dog, Jock, and her cat Moxy behind, she is determined to find another way. Before the rescue helicopter returns, Evie flees with Gus, Jock and Moxy in a race against time across difficult terrain to reach the port of Kaikoura, where she has heard that people will be evacuated by ship in three days’ time. Surely there will be space for her, Gus, Jock and Moxy there? But the journey is harder than Evie could ever have imagined, and with aftershocks constantly shaking, Evie will have to draw on all her bravery, strength, and resilience to bring her and her animals to safety . . . and hope that they reach the boat in time.

This is a great book about overcoming personal and nationwide struggles. It also really helps you to understand what it's like to have OCD. Also, it features Greek myths, which makes it even better.

Another brilliant fiction story by Stacy Gregg. This shows you that anything can be possible and is totally inspiring to read. Recommended for ages 8+ plus as it is a fairly long book with no pictures and intense story line. Definitely a 5 star book for me!

I really like this book and would recommend it if you love it when true friends stay together. My favourite character is Evie because she helps everyone or thing that needs help. I usually read just before bed and sometimes I will get so caught up in the book that I will accidentally read until past bed time.

This book is amazing! I would highly recommended this brilliant book to every pony crazy girl! When you start to read the book it's quite confusing so I thought to rate this book three, but the more I read the more of the pieces fell in place! It has quite a few surprise jumps that have made me cry and gasp! My favorite character is Moxy because she's so fierce and adventurous for a cat! Hope you enjoy this amazing book! Happy reading

I really enjoyed reading this book because it had lots of adventures in the book. I thought they will never ever find Moxy when she fell into the Rocky water.

I think that Stacy did a brilliant job managing to portray Evie's troubles with her OCD and how she showed her overcoming them, not easily but through a bit of hard work. You know they say animals can help with therapy and other problems? Well this book certainly works out! And I CAN relate to Evie - I wouldn't want to leave my beloved lab behind, she'd be as scared as the earthquakes were scary!
