The Murderer's Ape

A captivating mystery adventure story, with gorgeously detailed black-and-white illustrations throughout
Sally Jones is an extraordinary ape and a loyal friend. In overalls or in a maharaja’s turban, this unique gorilla moves among humans without speaking but understanding everything. She and the Chief are devoted comrades who operate a cargo boat. A job they are offered pays big bucks, but the deal ends badly, and the Chief is falsely convicted of murder.
For Sally Jones this is the start of a quest for survival and to clear the Chief’s name. Powerful forces are working against her, and they will do anything to protect their own secrets.
Jakob Wegelius is a Swedish writer and illustrator. The Murderer’s Ape was a bestseller in Sweden and Germany, won the August Prize for Best Children’s Book, the Nordic Council Children and Young People’s Literature Prize, and is an International Youth Library White Raven selection.

It was brilliant even though it had 588 pages it is one of my favourite books I have read this year. My favourite person or Gorilla was Sally Jones the First Engineer and a very nice Gorilla. I would recommend this book to some one who likes animals and long books!

Judge Blossom Spaghetti-Hoops 17.07.2022

One of the best adventure books I have read. The only small issue is the pacing, as Sally Jones spends a little bit too much time in some locations.
Senor Muscles Tyrannosaurus 17.08.2021

This is amazing, twists and turns all the way. The title makes it sound grim but it is anything but, you are led on a mystery through the unfortunate events of an ape. Highly recommend this for Y5 or Y6 readers who love a good thriller.

the ape who can read and write. the ape who is an engineer. the murderer's ape. Sally Jones is an extraordinary ape but her best friend is accused of murder. Over a 3 and a half year course the ape proofs that he is innocent. Then something happens. the man who is accused is alive.
