This is an amazing book from the author Jane Kerr. Based on a true story, this book is packed in an adventure. It is all about a boy called Danny who is a pickpocket going on an adventure disguised as a prince with an elephant called Maharaja. I recommend this book to older children who love thrilling adventure stories.

What a mind-blowing book I’ve explored through. It was a book that would make you want to read it again. The dramatic events that occurred in this story were intriguing. It was a hard journey for Prince dandip as he and maharajah had to face many problems. After I read this book. I would recommend this book to someone due to the fact of it being an impressive novel.

I really enjoyed this book because it is partly based on a true story. It shows the bond between man and animal. They should make a film and I recommend it.

I found a few bits of this book a bit hard to understand and it took a long time to read. My mum and dad helped me out and I think it's better for someone a bit older like 9 or 10. But the story is good and a bit scary in places.

Most books I have read have had a really slow beginning (the beginning is quite boring to build up tension when the action starts) but not this one; nu-uh! The Elephant Thief is action packed, full of adventure with a slight hint of mystery. So if you like these genres, then this book is for you! I would recommend it for ages 9 - 12.
