A brilliant page-turner by the author of ‘The Mysterious Benedict Society’. Reuben’s life in the Lower Downs has never been particularly exciting until that day in the alley. After his mum’s gone off to work, Rueben sets off on his usual expeditions exploring the town. Noticing a thin alley, he has an idea. With his hands on one wall and his feet on the other, he slowly starts to make his way up the alley. Soon, he realises how high he is and, with no obvious way of getting down safely, decides to proceed upwards in the direction of a small concrete ledge. Getting on to it is no easy feat but Reuben manages it all the same and notices a small leather bag tucked into the bricks of the wall. Will Reuben dare try to retrieve it and find out what’s inside or will this lead him into too much danger?
