Their father has gone away to fight, so Zet and Kat are left to look after their clay pot market stall and as they are children sales are not good. When Zet overhears a medjay talking about a mystery with a reward of gold deben, he knows he needs to solve the case. But it gets more complicated than they think, can Zet and Kat solve the mystery, save their new friends and stay alive?

This book was fiction but it was based on real things like temples that really were there in Egypt. I thought it was really adventurous and exciting. I liked Ama best because she was kind and caring. I would recommend this book to people who like learning about ancient Egypt.

My favourite character was Zet, as he didn't give up on trying to work out what was on the scroll, and then how to stop the Pharaoh being murdered. The story was also very informative about what Ancient Egypt was like (though I imagine that not everyone was involved in stopping plot to kill the Pharaoh being killed!) I would recommend it to someone who enjoys mystery, adventure and history who is age 8 - 12. Overall, this book was a great story and I really enjoyed reading it!
