When Erica Perkins wakes up on the morning of her tenth birthday, the last thing she expects is to find a very confused elephant sitting on her doorstep. So begins an unlikely friendship. But can a small girl and a rather large elephant learn to live together in a tiny terraced house? And when the dastardly owner of the local zoo plots to steal the elephant, will Erica be able to outsmart him? illustrated with heartwarming and engaging line drawings Sylvia’s writing has a wonderfully classic feel while the offbeat humour makes it contemporary and fresh

In book a girl discovers an elephant at her door. She is perplexed and has no idea what to do with it. Read this book to find out what happens next. Only rated as a 3 as I prefer longer books with more exciting moments.

I loved this book as it was exciting and adventurous. My favourite character was Erica, a sweet girl who finds herself launched into mischief and trouble when she discovers an elephant on her doorstep! Full of fun and an easy read for the holidays, this book deserves a five star recommendation!

Wow! ANOTHER SYLVIA BISHOP BOOK! Erica Perkin's uncle loves travelling as he is an explorer and loves to discover new species. So when Erica is left on her own, she never expects to wake up on her tenth birthday and find an elephant on her doorstep! He's been sent by Erica's beloved uncle, and the elephant is rather confused. Can Erica learn to look after her elephant and keep him safe? Especially when Oliver, Amy Avis and the zoo are after Erica and her elephant!

I really enjoyed this book but I think it's vocabulary could've been a bit better. I think this book is aimed at a 8 year old not a 10 year old.
