Charlie and her family have moved from the big city to a small country
village, and everything feels wrong. The cottage they now live
in is old and creepy. Anxiety about her new school is causing
Charlie’s stutter to return. And the villagers are just plain weird:
Beautiful young singer Suzy Evans, who glows with a strange
light that only Charlie can see. Mysterious classmate Cat, who won’t
keep her nose out of Charlie’s business. And Agatha, who may
not have a broomstick or a cauldron, but is definitely a witch…

Slowly and steadily, though, the strange surroundings exert their effect on Charlie… Would a bit of Agatha’s magic fix her worsening stutter? Nothing else seems to… But bad-tempered Agatha has long since retired from magic. Besides, she tells Charlie, her stutter is part of who she is, not a curse that can be removed. Not like the curse that’s been put on Suzy Evans, the sparkling singer, who is set to lose her wonderful voice when she turns sixteen in just a week’s time…

I really enjoyed the adventure part (which was getting suzey’es singing voice back before Sunday or she would louse her singing voice forever ).

It was a nice fantasy book and I loved the character of Agatha as she was really cool for a witch. I am really looking forward to reading the sequel : How to trap a Wolf.

I think it was a great book. It was quite hard to get into but then it got very exciting. I liked the character. Annie was my favourite because she’s funny. I’d recommend it for people aged 7 and 8 year olds who like fairytales and witches.

Full of soon spells, magic, mystery and a unbreakable curse! I liked this book but think that it could have been a bit more exciting.

This was an exceeeelent book!! Very adventurous Nothing has gone right for Charlie since her family moved. The house is creepy, school makes her nervous and the village seems odd, spooky, almost magical. Charlie is drawn into a tail of the unexpected, a take in which good must do battle with evil over an agent curse. A tail in which Charlie will play a much bigger part than she ever imagined.... Get this book to find out the rest

I really liked the bad person in this book(Eliza) because she has so much personality and the Author made it so even of she was told from a story of a story you feel like you really understand her.
