The Moonlight Statue
Holly Webb, Jason Cockcroft
For Polly, moving to Penhallow Hall is the fresh start she’s been longing for since the death of her father. Her mum has got a job managing the stately home and once the last of the visitors leave for the day the place is all theirs! One night, Polly sleepwalks into the garden and wakes to find her hand on the head of one of the stone dogs that guard the steps down to the lawn. Then she feels him lick her cheek! The dog introduces himself as Rex, an Irish Wolfhound who lived at Penhallow many hundreds of years earlier. And he is not the only resident ghost – Polly has also glimpsed a strange boy around the place. With Rex’s help she finds herself unravelling the story of his beloved master, William Penhallow, who was killed in the First World War aged only 17.
Reviews
The statues coming alive were cool. It was good that Holly met the statues so she was not alone.

I liked how there was a lot of magic involved in this story and how Rex the dog was living here for centuries, and Polly somehow woke him and discovered other ghosts in this story. Recommend to dog lovers and people who like to be spooked out

I thought this book was very interesting because Polly moves to Penhallow Hall, she meets the wolfhound Rex, a ghost dog. I liked William the best in this story as he and Magnus died in a sad way and William saves Polly from drowning. I recommend this book due to it's strange and cool story.

this book is really good at the start but i thought that it got a bit boring towards the end. this book would be great for girls aged 7-9. polly is a girl and she had to move out of london to penhallow hall ,by the sea and get flash backs from when her dad was alive. she hears odd sounds at night and goes to investergate. she found her long lost friend rex the dog and they goes on adventures
