A gloriously illustrated celebration of trailblazing women. Women in Science highlights the contributions of fifty notable women to the STEM fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics, from both the ancient and modern worlds. The book also contains fascinating infographics and an illustrated scientific glossary.

The extraordinary women profiled include well-known figures like the physicist and chemist Marie Curie, as well as lesser-known pioneers such as Katherine Johnson, the African-American mathematician who calculated the trajectory of the Apollo 11 mission to the moon.

Women in Science celebrates the achievements of the intrepid women who have paved the way for the next generation of female engineers, biologists, mathematicians, doctors, astronauts, physicists and beyond …

I forgot to add this book as I read it just before the summer holidays and after the competition started. This book really inspires me to read more about women in science, or even any topic, like maths or geography. I want girls to read this book so that they do not forget how important they are to the world of science!

I enjoy reading books about women who have achieved something that changed our daily lives today. I really liked the illustrations by Rachel Ignotofsky. My favourite person to read about was probably Mae Jemison who was an Astronaut, Educator and a Doctor! I found her story extremely interesting since she had done so many remarkable things in her life. I would recommend the book to boys and girls interested in women and what amazing things they have done!

It was a good book that is inspiring because there’s loads of women that become scientists and break the limits. It is non fiction. I would recommend it to smart people who want to learn more about our world.

I believe girls are just as great (if better) than boys and I think it is important to be able to read and discuss women who have made a difference especially in STEM subjects as in the past men have dominated these areas. I think everyone - even boys - should learn about people who have helped shaped the world into what it is today; these are the people we should be thanking.

this book tells you the lives of brilliant women who changed the world with their discoveries. Some of them weren't recognised until they were dead and sometimes longer. I would recommend this book to children over 7.

In my opinion, this book was extremely interesting due to the fact that history is one of my favourite subjects. Whilst reading this, I learnt a lot about different inventions and actions that changed the world. The art was absolutely brilliant, I enjoyed looking at the art just as much as reading the book! Overall, I’d give this book 4/5 because I’d like to see a bit more information towards the end of their lives.
