Lola the sheep has the most extraordinary wool. It's soft and silky and is her pride and joy! But down on the farm, when the sun comes out, the wool comes off! Poor Lola is so upset by her haircut that she runs away to the far side of the farm where she sits all alone, waiting for it to grow back. And when it does, it's no longer silky, it's completely wild! But with it comes a wonderful surprise . . . Thanks to a tiny chick, this self-obsessed sheep learns an important life lesson; that great friendships are more important than simply having great hair. The Sheep Who Hatched an Egg is a funny, thoughtful, springtime story from award-winning, Gemma Merino, author of the bestselling The Crocodile Who Didn't Like Water and The Cow who Climbed a Tree.

This book showed that it was more important to be kind to our friends than worry about what we look like.

It was fiction and I really liked Lola and the chick because they were the main characters. I would recommend it to someone.

It was really funny that the sheep had different kinds of wool and to start with she was sad but hen she was happy, especially when she got to hatch an egg!

I liked that the sheep kept the egg warm and it hatched into a baby bird. It wouldn’t have hatched if she didn’t have her warm wool

We liked this book- the sheep was like the ram in another book we like called Shrimp.

We have loved reading this story, the book has beautiful, fun illustrations. The messages about social and self acceptance were perfectly threaded into the tale. We will be looking out for sheep with wool thick enough for a chick to nestle in!

I liked the sheep Lola because her wool was nice and straight and soft because she combed it for hours. Lola didn't know the egg dropped on her head. In the morning when Lola woke up, she found a little bird singing on her head!

I found this book funny but it got a little bit sad sometimes, especially when they said goodbye. I like the last page where the sheep has the eggs on his head and birds all around him.
