The Trapdoor Mysteries: The Scent of Danger: Book 2
Abie Longstaff
The second book in The Trapdoor Mysteries, a series about Tally, a code-breaking, animal-loving servant girl and her best friend, a squirrel named Squill, who solve mysteries with the help of a secret library…
Orphan Tally is the servant girl at Mollett Manor – and she’s also the Secret Keeper of the magical library hidden beneath a trapdoor, underneath the manor’s grounds. Along with Squill the squirrel, she uses the enchanted books to solve crimes. So when Lady Mollett’s new puppy, Widdles, is kidnapped, Tally and Squill head straight to the library. But will they be able to catch the dognapper or is it already too late?

A very good book where Tally has to rescue some animals. But she thinks Lord Mollet is her father! And her Mum could be Alive!

This book was really good to read and really fun to read as well. It was about a girl with a pet squirrel called squill and they have this secret library that only they know about. And they have a dog called widdles that got kidnapped/dognapped by a man that takes peoples pets. I would recommend this book.

Lord Mollett gives Tally lessons on history, geography and teaches her french. The books in the secret library have the best names: How to fly by Augusta Wind, Underwater breathing by B.A. Fish and The art of slithering by Anna Conda.

It feels like you’re in the magic and solving the mysteries yourself. While you read the book, look out for Tally’s secret passageways around Molttet Manor.
