Olivia’s Mum and Dad don’t think she is responsible enough to have a puppy. When a neighbour needs help looking after their twelve-week-old labrador puppy, Barley, Olivia will do whatever it takes to prove that she can. It turns out Barley and Olivia were made for each other and it’s not long before everyone else thinks so too!

Although this is a very small book it is very, very good. I am a massive dog fan so I was looking for a book about dogs. This is the best book I have read in ages and I recommend it to all dog lovers, and even if you don't like dogs, i can guarantee you will love this book! This book is about a very forgetful girl (like me!) who has wanted a dog all her life. until one day, she sees a poster for a dog walker needed. it was only for 6 weeks, for her neighbour who had broken her leg and her Labrador puppy was just too much for her at that time. she knew it was a perfect start if she wanted a puppy of her own. She loved this dog with all her heart and even invited him to her birthday party! then when the six weeks was over and her birthday came, her parents agreed to let her get her own dog... but she didn't want any dog, she wanted Barley.

This book is amazing i already read it last year but why not read it again like i did. Mrs Blythe is so kind letting Olivia have barley even after he ate chocolate in her sight. I would recommend this to animal lovers like me and if you want a dog maybe get some tips from this.

i think that it is a lovely book that can be read by children all ages roughly 7 to 12 years old. great for people that love animals and helps to inform children how to care for pets such as cats and dogs in a fabulous and fun way.

pictures?: non font?: nice and not too big nor small pages?: 1-111 review: nice and kind for kids 5+ on the back of the book: Shy and forgetful Olivia loses everything, from her school jumper to her toothbrush! Losing a jumper is one thing, but if Olivia wants a dog someday, she needs she needs to prove that she wont lose that too. Looking after her neighbours puppy, Barley, is the perfect start.
