The thrilling, heartbreaking, and inspirational new story from award-winning storyteller and wildlife expert Gill Lewis.
Deep in the heart of the African jungle, a baby gorilla is captured by a group of rebel soldiers. Imara and Bobo are two children also imprisoned in the rebels’ camp. When they learn that the gorilla is destined to be sold into captivity, they swear to return it to the wild before it’s too late. But the consequences of getting caught are too terrible to think about. Will the bond between the gorilla and the children give them the courage they need to escape?

This is a adventure story about a girl called Imara and a gorilla named Kitwana. Imara must save Kitwana from being sold to an english businesswoman called the White Lioness. Imara is the Black Mamba's spirit child because she was bitten by a black mamba snake and lived. People believe she has evil powers and she protects the Mambas, a rebel group led by Black Mamba, from danger. Kitwana is a baby gorilla who was stolen by the Mambas to be sold to the White Lioness when the silverback Hodari was shot. He was adopted by lmara although his real mother is the gorilla, Hisani. I would recommend this book to people who like animals.

I absolutely loved this book! I found parts of it sad but it made the book more interesting. I like the way that each chapter is written about a specific character. I enjoyed reading Kitwana the gorilla's point of view because it shows how he felt as well as human characters. I would recommend this to someone who likes adventure stories.

I think people should read this book because when you start reading it you just can't put it down and it explains anything you can't understand.

I really recommend this book as well as others by Gill Lewis. It is a very emotional book about a pair of children who are determined to free an imprisoned gorilla. The characters form an unbreakable bond with the gorilla. It is a very heart warming book and I would really recommend it!

Puts a good point across about the real world. It tells you what children in other countries ie Africa, have to go through in their younger lived!
