The children of Mivtown have grown up hearing the legend of the monsters of the loch. But it’s only a story – a warning to stay away from the water.

Then strange things start happening in the village. Effie’s rabbit Buster escapes from a locked hutch, her mum disappears without trace and slugs start to infest her home.

Along with her best friend Finn, Effie begins to hunt for clues to solve the mysteries of Mivtown. Could this all be connected to the legend? Is it really just a story or is there something lurking in those deep, dark waters?

I really enjoyed the story and surprisingly the slugs that came with it. It was a funny and exiting read. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who does or doesn't like slugs. My favourite character was Effie as I thought she had a funny and heroic personality. Also I share her hate of slugs!

This was a great book but it was quite frightening at parts so I recommend it to 8+

It is a great book and is great for suspense. If you like this I also recommend you might like Boy in the tower. I liked Finn. Finn was a supportive character for Effie and the sound of Rosemary Tanner gave me shivers. But I also like Tommi too! It interested me because I love action. They get me invested on the book. Cliffhangers leave me intense and I just want to keep on reading. I would recommend it to people who like Fantasy. Keeps you invested, interested and it’s like your in the book.

A girl called Effie lives in a town called mivtown and thinks its her fault that her mum drowned in the loch because Effie shouted at her mum a day before her mum drowned. Then she goes on an adventure to find what actually happened with her best friend Finn.

This book is about a girl called Effie and her little sister Tommi. Effie and her friend have a really good relationship together and one day Effie's mum goes missing in the loch where apparently monsters lie.It is all up to Finn(her friend)and Effie to find out what happened.

Effie and her friend Finn live in a town called Mivtown with very few houses, and legend says that monsters lurk in the waters But it’s only a story – a warning to stay away from the water. Then strange things start happening in the village. Effie’s rabbit Buster escapes from a locked hutch, her mum disappears without trace and slugs start to infest home. are these happening connected to the legend? will Effie find her mum again? I recommend this book for children aged around 10.

A creepy novel! It was super good but gave me a bit of a scare! NOT one to read late at night! The monster bit was super but I'll never look at slugs in the same way ever again!!!!! Overall a great read- but I wouldn't want to be mum
