Gregor the Overlander
Suzanne Collins
The first in a gripping young fantasy series from the author of THE HUNGER GAMES. When eleven-year-old Gregor falls through a grate in the laundry room of his apartment building, he hurtles into the dark Underland, where spiders, rats and giant cockroaches coexist uneasily with humans. This world is on the brink of war, and Gregor’s arrival is no accident. But Gregor wants no part of it – until he realizes it’s the only way to solve the mystery of his father’s disappearance. Reluctantly, Gregor embarks on a dangerous adventure that will change both him and the Underland forever. Engrossing, page-turning fantasy, full of vivid battle scenes. Perfect for fans of Percy Jackson or Beetle Boy. Collins’ young fantasy novels are fast-paced, sad and funny, and perfect for both boy and girl readers. “Fantastically engaging.” – Publisher’s Weekly
Reviews

It's actually a series of five books, and I have read all of them. My favourite is the final book, Gregor and the code of claw. I don't want to write anything about it so I don't spoil it, but I reccomend the series if you like giant rats ;-)

This book is about a boy called Gregor who when putting the laundry on the dryer, goes through a grill and ends up in the underworld. It is a bit scary because the feeling of the book is very adventurous. It's not only because of that, but also because someones traveling through a world gateway. On the other hand it's very exciting because you don't know what is going to happen next. I think it is a very interesting book because it talks about animals talking to the humans. It's like a modern mythological story or like a modern world traveler. {I know there is no such thing as a modern world traveler}. I think the author has put a lot of work into writing this spectacular book. I would like to tell you that even though Gregor faces many ups and downs in the underworld, he still moved on through all the injuries. We can learn a great lesson from this book: NEVER EVER GIVE UP!
