Who Was Nelson Mandela?
Pam Pollack, Who HQ, Stephen Marchesi
As a child he dreamt of changing South Africa; as a man he changed the world. Nelson Mandela spent his life battling apartheid and championing a peaceful revolution. He spent twenty-seven years in prison and emerged as the inspiring leader of the new South Africa. He became the country’s first black president and went on to live his dream of change. This is an important and exciting addition to the Who Was…? series.

Fight for yourself.

I thought was an interesting book. Nelson Mandela used to live with a king and he had a different name at that time. Rolihlahla was his former name before one of his teachers gave him the name Nelson Mandela. This man fought for rights that he thought black people in South Africa deserved. He went to jail more than one time and constantly fought for black peoples rights. Near the end he became president and then stepped down from presidency and spent a bit of time to his family. I would recommend this book to my younger brother because it will be good for him to learn about the past.

Nelson Mandela was a Black South African who helped the frustrated Black Africans regain freedom in South Africa. he paid a big price. he was even sent to jail however he did not give up. he later became the President of South Africa. he was awarded the noble Peace Prize.
