Now a major BBC series.

‘Without this child, we shall all die.’

Lyra Belacqua lives half-wild and carefree among the scholars of Jordan College, with her daemon, Pantalaimon, always by her side.

But the arrival of her fearsome uncle, Lord Asriel, draws her to the heart of a terrible struggle – a struggle born of stolen children, witch clans and armoured bears.

As she hurtles towards danger in the cold far North, Lyra never suspects the shocking truth: she alone is destined to win, or to lose, the biggest battle imaginable.

Really good a bit hard to follow (and awkward to read aloud in school) but enjoyable none the less

I liked how Lyra always tried to figure out what was right and wrong. I also liked the number of escape routes and plans Lyra had.

Amazing, action packed, drama TV show. Boring, dull book.

I found this book very exciting and I would definitely recommend it! If you liked it, there are two following books to complete the saga: The Subtle Knife and The Amber Spyglass. Good for ages 9+
